  • Problem with cropping HD to SD in Compressor

I have some Super 8 footage that was telecined as ProRes, therefore it’s HD 16×9 which is fine. I do however want to output an SD version at 4×3 to get rid of the letterboxing. I have a custom setting in Compressor that works fine except for one tiny detail. Rather than centreing the crop on the image it takes more off the left than from the right. It’s only a minor thing except on one particular clip I have it will look much better if it is truly centred.
    My Geometry settings are
    Crop to: 4×3 1.33:1
    720×576
    No padding
This is PAL CCIR 601 if it makes any difference. When I’m viewing the image in the Preview window I’d expect the red crop border to be centred & the same amount of image to be lost left and right, however the red crop border sits all the way to the right hand side, so all the cropping is from the left of the image. Hope this makes sense & that someone can tell me how to get around this.
