Problem with camera Samsung H220 HD
Just bought the upgrade Sony Vegas Platinum 10 to use with my Samsung H220 HD (shoots in mp4) to find out that the software bugs with the audio from this camera.
The audio is chopped, no way I can use it.
The support wrote this (I am from France) :“Ceci est un problème connu avec ce modèle de caméscope dans Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10. Nous regrettons l’inconvenience, et nous voudrons vous offrir une mise à niveau gratuit à la nouvelle version de Vegas, lorsque ce sera disponible.”
“This is an identified problem with this model of video camera in Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10. We apologize for the inconvenience and would like to offer a free upgrade for the new version of Vegas as soon as it is available.” -

I would be very leery of any camera that just “shoots mp4” and doesn’t adhere to an industry standard. You can’t expect any software to support every proprietary format that any camera manufacturer might make. If you want to be sure that your HD camera works with any software, buy a camera that shoots AVCHD or HDV. Otherwise you don’t know hat you’re getting.
BTW, it was very nice of Sony to apologize for Samsung. It would be nicer if Samsung (and other camera makers) would adhere to the AVCHD standard.

That’s what great about having standards…there are so many to choose from!

Yea, and ironically that’s exactly the point because AVC/H.264 is a standard but it is so broad that no one can support it all. That makes it kind of useless. This is why more restrictive standards like AVCHD and HDV are so important.

My son and his friends shot some video with this Samsung camera. When you import into vegas platinum 10, every other second of the audio is silent.
Windows media player plays it fine so obviously the right codec exists.
Cakewalk Sonar can also import and render the audio with no problem.
Solution:
If you right click the bad clip in vegas and scroll down you can see what File IO plugin it used. It used something called “compoundplug”. If you look in the Program Files\Sony\Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0\FileIO Plug-Ins folder, you can see there is an mp4 plugin. For some reason, Vegas chooses the compoundplug instead.Bruit force fix: Rename the compoundplug folder (I just called it “compoundplug_”) and restart vegas.
Imports work perfectly now

I just want to thank you immensely for that fix. I literally spend the past 24 hours trying to fix one problem and then ran into this one and this saved my mental state.
