problem with 5.1
Hello, I just finished my first documentary as director. I had a very little budget for the post-production, and here come the problems.
I have a stereo mix for tv and internet, and a 5.1 mix for the DCP.
I have some serious doubts about the 5.1 mix I received. (That’s the first experience for the sound editor, too)
At some moments I have on L, R and C only the voice (itw) and on Ls-Rs the ambiance. The problem is that the voice has some noise behind, and we hear every cut because of the noise.
So I am wandering if I could replace the L and R with the stereo mix, set them at -3db each, and I don’t touch the other tracks (C, LFE, Ls,Rs).
I also saw that the center track has a lower volume than the L and R. Is that correct ?I have at this point no more budget, so I need to fix as much as I can myself. And fast. Also I am working on avid media composer. Is that ok if I just replace the L-R and export all the tracks using the “direct” mode (it export every track all mapped in one file) for the DCP ? Or do I need to use an audio sofware to replace the L-R. I have Adobe Audition, but I don’t know much about it.
That’s tricky all this. I wish someone can help me here.
Thank you.
