  • Problem reconnecting media after FCP 6.0 upgrade

Posted by Julie Gilmour on September 19, 2008 at 9:45 am

    Hi

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before. I upgraded to FCP 6.0 from 5.1 and have had a problem with a particular project that was created on 5.1 which i have now upgraded.

I have managed to reconnect the media for almost all the visual clips apart from a couple which is strange but the main problem im having is reconnecting media for half of the audio that goes with its visual.

Does anyone know why this might be?

I have rendered all that i can. Ive looked all over my internal and external hardrive for the link but with no luck. For a couple of the visual clips its saying when i try to reconnect the media that they are in the trash, but for one thing i never put them there in the first place and there isnt anything in the trash anyway.

    Julie,

Did you do all of the updates after upgrading? 6.0 as it came out the box had issues. If you didn’t update beyond that, you need to keep updating using the automatic feature until you get a message that “all software is up to date.”

I’m not certain this is the cause of your problem, but it certainly could be if indeed as your post says you are truly using 6.0, not the current 6.0.4.

    Hi

I didnt resolve it so i had to recapture all my footage and re-edit it.

The problem, i realised, was that the footage from the Capture Scratch file had all disappeared which is why it all went offline. No idea where they went tho.

Hope you have more success than me.
