    Hi folks

Need some help with an annoying problem that’s occurred on two of our edit suites since running the Prokit 7 update. Neither are showing ‘live’ footage on the external monitors connected to them.

They will display a ‘Show Current Frame’ absolutely fine. But when you try playback, nothing. And by nothing I mean no update on the screen, it continues to show the last thing on screen, be it black or the last Show Current Image you brought up. Digital Cinema Desktop Preview DOES work but the external cards don’t.

The two Mac Pro’s are completely different specs (I’ll include below) with different external video cards (one has a Matrox MXO2, the other a Blackmagic Intensity). I’ve tried a variety of footage and different output specs (dimensions, frame rate, fields) with the same result: no live playback, show current frame works fine. The only thing that’s the same is that they’ve both had Prokit 7 installed on them.

Has anyone else had this issue or suggest a solution / workaround? This isn’t crippling right now but I’m going to need it fixed in the very near future.

    Thanks

    John

Little update: After Effects is displaying video to the external card fine, as is the Matrox playback app so the problem is definitely in FCP. Have tried trashing FCP prefs to no effect.

    Reinstall your card drivers.

[John Pale] “Reinstall your card drivers.”

Actually, uninstall then reinstall. AJA, Matrox, and BM all require that you do both, and yes, after updates such as ProKit, it’s very common that I/O drivers need to be reinstalled.
