  • Problem importing a TIFF file into FCP

    Hello All,
I have a question, I put together a graphic in Photoshop for my FCP project. I added alpha channels and saved it as a TIFF. I later went back to make some changes to the graphic in Photoshop and resaved it with alpha channels. Now FCP will not let me import the graphic. It keeps saying file error. What am I doing wrong?

I have this seen this same issue.

Using Richard Harrington’s “Photoshop for Video” podcasts entitled “Making Lower Thirds – Part 1 & 2”, I followed the directions explicitly (well, I was using my own graphics and not the podcasts) and when I tried to import the resulting TIFF into Final Cut, I got the message “File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown”

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Oh yeah, I’m using Photoshop CS4 and Final Cut 6.0.4 on a Mac Pro running OS 10.5.6

You can only have ONE alpha channel
You also should not check the Save Transparency box in TIFF dialog box

Hi- I was having the same problem, and did as you suggested. It worked in that FCP now accepts the file, but is there a way to recover the transparent background? I needed that functionality as well.
