problem exporting QT Conversion/hard drive format

Yup…the FAT32 format has a file size limit of 2GB (or is it 4GB?).

You need to format the drive as MacOS Extended. That doens’t have a file size limit.

FAT32 has a 4Gb file size limitation. Before using a hard drive as a media drive it should always be formated with the Apple Disk Utility as Mac Extended (with no journaling). To do this now you will need to copy all of the files presently on that drive to a directory on another drive, then format the LaCie drive as mentioned above, and then move your files back.

Thanks for the suggestions… I moved all my files to another Lacie drive but I got an error that said I couldn’t erase the original drive because it couldn’t unmount the disc. Any ideas on how to correct this so I can move on to the reformatting process?

Vicki,

You need to empty the trash and/or shut down all apps that are accessing files on the drive before it can be unmounted.
