    Hi,

I’m new here (but have found lots of answers in the past – thanks!) and a relative beginner – particularly when it comes to file formats, codecs etc. Still pretty much Greek to me (any recommendation on some good reading here would be great – I AM trying). I’m doing a bit of work cross-platform and would like to export high quality (uncompressed? is that possible?) .AVI files from FCP. Last night (ok ok….it was early this morning) when I used QT Conversion to AVI, the finished file is only about 8 seconds of a 3 minute piece. I changed the settings around some, rerendered….to no avail. What’s up with that?

    Many thanks!

You likely have the basic version of Flip4Mac. It will only allow you to export a max of 30 seconds, depending on your project length. You will have to purchase Flip4Mac Studio, Studio Pro, or Studio Pro HD – depending on your export requirements.

You can go here to find out what will fit your requirements: https://www.flip4mac.com/store_wmv.htm

Thanks but I did upgrade to Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro a few weeks ago. Is there anything else I should check or try – or just contact their support directly? Thanks!

If you have Flip4Mac Studio Pro, then I’m not sure what to suggest. I still have the free version. 🙂

I’m new here too, and am having the exact same issues. Did you get anywhere? Did anyone help? My post sat amongst the tumbleweeds over on Apple Discussions 🙁

[Monica LaScala] “Thanks but I did upgrade to Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro a few weeks ago.”

That’s your problem. That application does not support .avi exports. At least not according to the technical specs. It will export Windows Media File (WMV), and ASF only. Nothing about .avi.
