    Hi to the Creative forum.
In our posthouse we are working with 3 editing rooms with the next configuration:

3 Power Macs dual 3 GHz 8 cores with 8 GBs RAM with AJA Kona LHe and Terrablock 24D Fiber Chanel Raid 4Gb/s.

Last week we updated one of the Final Cuts to the 7 version and also the latests drivers for the AJA Kona.

Working on a animation Project 1080p 24 fps 13 minutes lenght. This Project was created with the Final 6.0.6.

After the upgrade to version 7 we open the Project to replace the audio with a new stereo mix. This stereo mix was already tested with the in-out slates in our audio Studio with Logic pro.

The old stereo mix on the timeline was ok in sync, but when we try to put the new mix the result was curious.

We put the beep slate on sync but the audio don’t match the lenght, the audio NO but the waveform represented on the track in the timeline YES. Along the timeline the audio was going slowly back from sync and sounds before the represented wave.

You can see the waveform of the beep at the end of the program that matches the video slate but the audio beep sounds about 20 frames before.

After 3 hours of dummy tests (restart, create a new Project,… etc) we try the same on other edit suite with a Final Cut 6.0.6. We import the video and audio tracks put exactly the same sequence settings and VOILA! No problem. All was on sync. So we export the audio track from this timeline and import it again to the Final Cut 7 and the problem continues.

The audio was tested as WAW and AIF boths in 48 Khz and 24 bits
All the media was not moved from the original volume during all this process created in the Terrablock Raid.

The only true is that before the upgrade this problem never happens.

Any suggestion ?? Where is the problem in the Final Cut 7 or in the AJA drivers ??

    Thanks again.

I’m guessing you just installed the new FCS as an upgrade. Pro Apps can be finiky so I always recomed erasing the drive installing a clean OS then intalling FCS. Or at the vary least use FCP Remover to uninstall the old FCS first.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

Ok thanks for your suggestion. We try first to uninstall the final cut with the remover and test it again. If the problem persists we format the disc and reinstall all again. I post the results in the next days.
