  Problem creating shadows with Solid layers and masks

  Hi,

  I’m creating shadows on some footage by masking a black layer on top. I’m working at HD (1280X720) resolution. Best Quality I”ve tried both continuously rasterizing the solid layer and not. The shadows look fine in my comp, but when I render them using
  (using 16 bit and trillions of colors (Cineform codec), I get very rough gradations at the edges of the shadows. I tried rendering in Quicktime as well (millions of colors) and get the same result.

  Does anyone have any thoughts or solutions to get smooth gradations?
