  • Problem capturing HDV footage to Ppro2 from XLH1

    Hi,
    We’re having a bit of a nightmare.
We have recently bought a new edit suite but we are trying to capture HDV footage from our XLH1 and there’s something it isn’t liking…
We can control the tape (play, stop, forward, reverse etc) but can’t record (the button is greyed out).
There is nothing on the preview screen when we play it, and it says that the capture device is offline.
However when we go to settings as though to change the camera model, it shows up as online.
    Help would be greatly appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    Adam Clements

Are you trying to load Progressive scan or interlaced HDV? if progressive scan have you downloaded the Presets for progressive scan.

    hi.

in which project are you capturing – hdv or sd(dv)

you have to change the output of your camera to the right project settings

    regards, Fr

We have shot on HDV 1080i.
Can you clarify changing the camera’s output settings?
    Many thanks,

To digitise your material the camera is set in vtr mode, then be sure that the playback standard (menu – signal setup – playback standard) is set to the right setting – if you work in a hdv project and the playback standard is set to dv you will have the problem you described.

so in vtr mode – menu – signal setup – playback standard

also you can only change this setting with the camera NOT connected to the firewire – once connected you cannot change this setting

    hope this helps, Fr
