  • Problem capturing 1080i50 HD from Canon XHA1 to FCP 7 via Firewire 800 (4-to-9 pin) on iMac

I have set my Canon XHA1 to HDV playback and trashed my Final Cut Pro 7 preferences. I’ve set the Easy Setup to HDV with HDV 1080i50 Firewire Basic, saved the project, and closed FCP. I’ve then plugged in the 4-to-9 pin Firewire cable to my XHA1 whilst it was turned off, and plugged the other end into my iMac’s Firewire 800 port. I’ve then turned on the camera, opened FCP7, with the Easy Setup as described, opened Log and Capture and I get the message “Unable to initialize capture device”.

Can anyone help? I shot 1080i50 footage to Mini DV tapes in the same Canon XHA1 camera. I would really appreciate some help!

    Thanks,

    Sam
