I have a feature film where the audio was mixed in Pro Tools under the new loudness guidelines. The dialogue at -24 LUFS.

When I lay that mix back to the timeline in FCP 7, and I add Bars and Tones for a transfer to tape, what do I set the tone to? It defaults at -12db. But I know that the Pro Tools room/session was calibrated to
-20db. Also, in Pro Tools the dialogue is mixed at -24 LUFS, but in FCP 7 it reads at -12.

    I need advice!

    Thanks in advance,

    CB

Leave the clip level set to zero and make sure it is panned for stereo.

Tone should be -20db. FCP doesn’t measure loudness, just peak so don’t change the levels
