Printing out marker comments?
Hi there. I’m using FCP 5.0.4. I have about 70 hours of footage that I’ve gone through recently. I’ve been using markers to make notes in the comments box as a rough way of logging the clips and jotting down ideas.
What I would like to do now is export these comments (including tape/timecode info) so I can view/print them as one text file. Unfortunately, I can’t find an easy way to do this. I exported an XML file, and a cursory scan shows that my comments are contained within. However, EVERYTHING else is also in there, so they’re buried at intervals within a 4500 page file.
I found the program XML2Text (https://www.spherico.com/filmtools/XML2Text/), which seems to do exactly what I want, extracting specific parts of the XML… but it doesn’t seem to work for this later version of FCP.
So, if anybody has any ideas about how to get my marker comments out of the XML or if there’s a different way to go about this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for the help.
