    using fcp studio 2
    imac g5
    canon xl2
    fire wire connection
    usb external hardrives for scratch disks.

    I am attempting with fcp 6 to put the nested data from my timeline onto a mini dv using my canon xl2 as a deck. When I play the time line, it doesn’t play in the lcd screen of my camera. However it does show a freeze frame in the screen of the last point I pressed stop on the time line. It does record audio and the still image but no motion picture. Is there a magic little button somewhere I need to press to make it all better? I could really use some help. Thanks

    Tyler,

    Assuming your sequence is DV, you should connect the camera and turn it on BEFORE you launch FCP. It has to initialize the device.

    Sounds like it is behaving the way an 8bit or other sequence would behave on a FW device, it must be DV. BTW, you don’t have to use print to video, you can just record it from the timeline.

    Have a wonderful day.
