  • Print to Video is Rendering……….uhm…. why???

Posted by Paul Factora on October 26, 2006 at 4:18 am

i just finished rendering my sequence and it took about 2 hours.

so i go to print the video and it is telling me that it will take an hour to write the video!

Why? aren’t the effects and audio rendered already????

Did you render everything? Light Green lines over the timeline mean real time effects, but they will require a final rendering before outout. Have any of that color? And mixing down audio is a standard procedure. I do it myself manually. It is in the Render section of the SEQUENCE menu.

yes, everything has been rendered. no green anywhere. audio has been mixed down.

it has displayed a 32 minute time estimation for the past hour.

    frustrating.

Can you explain what you are doing? Your workflow? Because that last statement doesn’t really mean anything…it is out of context. Is your original footage 16:9 anamorphic and now you are outputting 4:3?

the 16mm footage was transferred to Digibeta.

Shot 16mm, telecined to digibeta, dubbed to DV and then captured using the DV/NTSC Easy Setups?

That is what I mean by workflow…step by step of what was done up til now.

I think that an older version of FCP is being used in this case. It seems like a problem that used to exist back in version three or early version of four.

it is either that or you have edited everything in unlimited RT mode and Print to video will not execute until the timeline has been rendered.
