  • Print to Tape/Video not working going to HDV

I have a project I captured footage in Pro Res 1280×720 60P. Original footage was HDV 1280 x 720 60P. I am trying to print to video using a JVC HD50 HDV deck. I tried printing the edited sequence and also made a QT of the edited sequence and neither one will print to tape. Project plays but deck does not activate. So I tried Print to Tape and get a message that ‘unable to initialize Edit to tape. Check device control Preset in audio/video settings’. I have tried each setting there and nothing works. Also tried to use my JVC HD 250 camera as a recorder and same problems. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance. Mike

Once you convert from HDV to ProRes, you lost your ability to print back out to tape. You can only print to tape if you captured as native HDV.

The only way to get back to tape now is to convert the sequence to HDV, using Compressor or Media Manager (Compressor is better). But taking a GOP format, making it I-Frame, then going BACK to GOP…that might not look good.

    This happens with me sometimes.
I use a sony deck, my work around is turn off Video playback Out put by selecting NONE in the drop bar and also un-tick mirror on desktop.

Enable different Output for Edit to Tape/ Print to Video and select what is appropriate for you you in Video & Audio.

Let me know if that works for you 🙂
