I am trying to export my FCP sequence out to mini DV tape (using a camera device) with digital drop outs, (or missed up video) appearing on the tape once its layed down~

My project sequence/capture settings were originally DVPro50 but made a new sequence DV NSTC and change everything to reflect that~~

I’ve tried an audio mix down, nest/audio mix down, a new tape,
    changed cables~

My material is on external firewire drives (not on a hard drive), The fire wire cable is directly connected to my computer

If you have ANY trouble shooting options, I have a deadline, screening my edit in a theatrical screening room and would like to achieve the best quality possible

Would making a uncompressed quicktime (self contained) make a difference and exporting from a FCP sequence?

    Thanks for your help!

Do you have only the stock, internal firewire bus on your system or do you have a secondary, PCI card with extra firewire outputs? You may need that to accommodate media on firewire drives and the camcorder at the same time.

I have my camcorder hooked up to the PCIe firewire card and some FW drives hooked to the internal bus.

I agree with Tom. I have had many times when laying back simple DV to tape the the firewire bus gets a little overloaded at times and causes dropped frames. Now I will use nothing less then eSATA drives for media, much faster and it is on a completely separate bus then the camera/deck.

By the way, I was sloppy in my terminology in referring to “…extra firewire outputs.” They are not just outputs but connections to a complete I/O bus which is separate from the built-in FireWire bus. These cards are fairly cheap and easy to install and require no special drivers or software. I believe I got mine from FireWire Direct, but there are many sources.
