Primiere CS3 + AVCHD + Mobo with HDMI
Hi. I’m in the market for a new camcorder. Whilst looking, I’ve noticed that a majority of hard drive/ flash based camcorders shoot in AVCHD. Now this is an issue because I have Premiere CS3 (PC) and it will not natively support AVCHD according to this TechNote.

Now Adobe “recommends” the Blackmagic Intensity Pro card. See specs/ info here.

However, It looks like it’s simply a card, possibly express x1, with an HDMI in/ out. Meanwhile, my mother also has an HDMI in or out, I’m not really sure, as well. See specs/ info here.

This bring me to my question. Is there something about the Blackmagic product that my motherboard won’t do? Can I digitize/ edit AVCHD footage with one or the other, both or neither? I hope I explained my situation clearly. Thanks in advance to any response.
