    Just as the manual says, I can preview HDV footage directly from the timeline of FCP6 via Firewire to my HDV deck and then to a NTSC monitor, but in order to do that I have to change the settings in the deck to work on DV format and not in HDV, so it can be recognized by FCP. FCP won

    I’ve noticed the same thing too regarding the quality. It looks to me like it’s coming out upper field first, rather than being converted to lower field first for DV. I know there’s a solution to this because HDV works fine in Motion 3 going to the monitor. The other thing that makes it bad (and Motion has the same problem going out) is that the pixel aspect ratio isn’t correct. Everything is slightly vertically squished. Not a lot, but noticeable if you’re familiar with the footage. I hope they get these issues corrected soon.
