I just bought my Sony HDR-SR11 HD camcorder and was trying to edit my video in Vegas 8 pro. I have just bought a new video card which is an ATI 3750 Over Clocked DDR4 and it is still doing it. I have 2G of Ram and 159MB of memory. my CPU usage is very low. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to change the settings somewhere. I have already tried changing the preview quality. Thanks

That camcorder records in AVCHD format so, unless you have a quad core, forget about trying to get full frame rate playback 🙁

Even with a quad-core, don’t expect full frame playback

Wonder what its gonna take for avchd to run smoothly through-out
the editing process. A helpful little software is available
to help with its ease(vasst),strangely enough its the only little help
that seems to be out there that tries to make folks editing avchd, life
    a little easier.

I found something called GearShift, but it only works for Vegas 4 and 5.

Brett, AVCHD UpShift (from VASST) is the product you want to check out.

How can the Sony supplied Picture Motion Browser software play AVCHD files full screen perfectly smoothly but Sony Vegas can’t on the same computer? Surely they could have built the same engine into the preview side of Vegas.
