Preview Viewer is laggy
Hey there, I just ripped a DVD, and used MPEG STREAMCLIP to convert it to Apple DV/DVCPRO – NTSC. And it seems to play fine in the sequence, But in the preview window, it starts and stops like its really laggy. Any suggestions? I’m working off of a portable hard drive, could that have something to do with it?

How is that portable hard drive connected? USB? That’s a big no no. Has to be Firewire 400, at least.

I’m using a Firewire, 9-4 pin. I moved the video file to the desktop and it plays fine now. the file size is around 20 gigs, so maybe that has something to do with it?

It’s definately the connection to the drive, or the drive itself. Good job narrowing that down.
