PREVIEW DISABLED on FCP 3
First out of the box-I’m a writer/producer forced into being an engineer. That’s the first problem, here’s the rest of it. I have a Beta SP PVW 2800 and I’m trying to digitize footage through a DSR 11 via S-video with FCP 3 on a G4 Mac. My RS-422 does control the Beta Deck but I cannot get the image to show up in the ‘LOG AND CAPTURE’ window … it persistently and continually screams ‘PREVIEW DISABLED’ at me. I have tried everything I know such as making sure the SP deck is outputing signal and the preferences are okay.
I even reloaded Quicktime since I’ve heard that can be a problem.If you’ve got any ideas or have faced this ugly beast, I’d appreciate your wisdom.

Make sure that the DSR’s input is set to the S video position on the front of the machine. Also should probably set the E/E set to on. That’s found in the on screen menu acessed from remote control. And also be sure that the input select is DV.

Jerry, Many thanks. Your suggestion on th E/E was exactly the problem. For others who have the DRW11 Sony, the default is NOT to playthrough analog tapes-go into the VTR Set menu and down to DVEE Out item and put it on.
