preserving metadata
I have an hvx200 and i would like to be able to hit the text memo user button on the camera when recording and have it survive the log and transfer stage. Possible without mxf4mac?

Not that I know of. You can get p2 Flow without the mxf4mac component and send the clips ‘offline’ to Fcp, then log and transfer. If you’re going to buy p2 Flow, then you should take advantage of the package of p2 Flow and the mxf4mac component. There’s some very cool features coming with p2 Flow.
