Preservation of file creation date during import
I’m working on a big family retrospective project – with clips originating from everything from iPhones, 5D MkII/III, Canon EOS C300, and even some Flip Video (remember those? Put it in a plastic jacket and send it off the rocks with the cousins!)
I am chasing down the issue of keeping the file creation date associated with each clip during the import process. I must be missing something fundamental here. Is it something we control, or is the metadata automatically preserved but not obvious until the right setting is engaged to reveal it? I’m unable to reveal it via any information views in the Inspector. I am using FCP 10.3.4
As I made round trips between Finder and FCP X, I did realize one interesting thing – the enclosing folder created during file optimization does actually have a form of the creation date of the enclosed file as the folder name. That would suggest that if things are left alone (clips are not rearranged beyond their original parked location during import) FCP X may be able to access the file creation date.
I have not found anything on this issue in FCP X help.
