This is mostly relative to the tape deck newer machine tend to be satisfied with 2 sec preroll
as for older machine (Betacam SP ) needed 5 sec preroll …. 2 inch quad VTR needed 10 sec to lock the image.Nowadays 2 sec is is normal

November 25, 2012 at 12:22 amI think he means the editing preference for play around. There is no pre-roll/post-roll deck control on FCPX.
