Premiere wants to render unmodified footage
This might be a silly question, I’m using Premiere CS5 and my work computer is quite powerful. I’m trying to edit footage and this project only requires cutting and putting together, no effects, yet it’s asking me to render my unmodified footage and it’s causing it to run super slow. My footage is in a server, don’t know if that matters. Help please!

No, I don’t mean that. It’s just as soon as I drop it into the timeline it makes me render it, without me applying any effects to it

Move the material locally and then see if it exhibits this behavior. If it does, then yes, it’s something about the server (for example, it’s likely that you’re not going to get playback if you’re accessing wirelessly)
Do this one step and you’ll know.
