Premiere: Replace With After Effects Composition
I am trying to use the Replace With After Effects Composition feature in my 1920×1080 composition in Premiere Pro CS4 but for some reason when it opens in After Effects the composition squishes the footage to 1440×1080. When I change the settings on the AE composition to match when I go back into Premiere it jacks up the footage and many times the program crashes. Any thoughts??

Hi Bob,
You are working with an HDV timeline in Premiere, correct?
The comp created in AE will be HDV as well, which is non-square pixels (PAR 1.33), and 1440×1080 would the correct resolution (anamorphic).
I’m not sure about the crash issue, but be sure to change the Pixel Aspect Ratio to Square as well if you are changing the resolution to 1920×1080 in AE.
Changing the resolution to 1920×1080 square pixel in AE will actually improve the preview quality, so that is the way to go.
