premiere & Red Files
hi
I m using Premiere CS6 & Editing a film which shoot on RED EPIC, now my total footage is almost 8TB and my timeline is fully ready for DI, i want to delete un used R3D file from bin as well as from HDD, So i can only send 2 or three HDD for DI, how to do it pls do the need full.
And if i delete it from HDD the other file in R3D constructive folder will work properly or not pls tell me what should i do. -

Use the Project Manager feature with the “collect files and copy to new location” as it will handle RED files properly (At least CC does, I rarely use this feature so I’d assume it’s the same for the older CS6 as I don’t remember it being listed as an improved feature).
Alternately, if you really want to delete old files instead of copying files https://edlspy.felixhuesken.de/ EDL Spy in trial mode will help you at least see what is being used in your edit so you can manually delete around it.

CS6 does collect R3D files correctly through the project manager.

Yep, Project Manager ‘Collect Files and Copy to New Location’ should work for your needs. FYI, if you use the ‘Create New Trimmed Project’ option in Project Manager, be aware that the RED files will not actually be trimmed (it will copy the entire duration of the file on disk. Project will continue to have correct trimmed edits, though).

From my experience I’ve found that Premiere only copies the R3D files to the consolidate location when using the ‘Collect Files and Copy to New Location’.
When I tried ‘Create New Trimmed Project’ it just left the R3D files alone. It didn’t even copy them over, let alone attempt to trim them. This would be more acceptable if it informed you what had happened. The Red footage was online in the consolidated project but it didn’t include master clips nor did it inform me that it had any difficulty…
Strange. Is this what others have experienced?I’ve only tried this on Premiere CC (7.0.1) on a Mac so far.
