Premiere Pro vs Vegas for HDV ???
Hi,
Im a PPro 2 user. And editing native HDV in PPro2 is a bitch without Cineform Aspect HD. Does Vegas have Cineform codec built in ??
Is there some intermediary codec built into Vegas ??? Or do I have go the PPro2 way in Vegas too…like buy an intermeiary codec to edit HDV??

no need for intermediates in V7.
have an E6600 with 2GB ram. using PIP 3-4 tracks HDV straight – no problem / real time🙂

That may be true, HOWEVER, the difference in previewing HDV footage in PP with Aspect and Vegas is like daylight and dark. Aspect rewrites the engine in PP. It isn’t just the codec. With Aspect, Cineform HDV files run in real time. They DO NOT in Vegas. In Vegas, you’re lucky to get them to run in preview mode, often blurry and you can’t tell if you are in sync quite often. This is not the case with PP Aspect. That is real time, high resolution. Also, PP is 10 bit and Vegas is 8. Hopefully, all this will change in Vegas 8 and in Vegas 64 bit. The former comes out this fall and 64 bit beta should follow that.
