Is this just for Macs? I don’t see 3.1.1 on my Windows machine.

I just updated on my PC. You must use Bridge CS3…Help>Updates

    Close all apps to install.

I have been trying to install the 3.1 patch since it was made available last month. However, I kept receiving the fatal “Installation was Unsuccessful” message.

When 3.1.1 was released today, I was hoping that the new patch would work. However, it did not. I have already tried using the Adobe Updater and the file on adobe.com. Neither way works. I have even re-installed my whole Production Premium CS3 software and that did not solve the problem.

Does anyone have any advice? I would really like to take advantage of all the bug fixes.

    Thanks in advance.

Did you upgrade to CS3 after having CS2 software on your computer?
You will need to run the CS3clean. Do a search on the net.

    Hi Jon. Thanks for responding.

My CS3 software was installed on a new computer earlier this year. It has nothing on it, but CS3.

All other patches install without issue.

Try using BridgeCS3 to Help> Updates… That is the Adobe recommended way to update all your stuff. You might need to go to the preferences and tick the boxes to all the updates as they may not all be coming through automatically.
Close all CS3 Apps and Firefox. Let it do it’s thing.
