Weird situation. I can’t use the initial start screen in Premiere Pro without it crashing. Not sure if that’s the correct term but it’s the first full screen to open that shows many of my current or previous projects and allows me to create a new project. If I try to create a new project – by clicking in the “untitled” project name field in the upper left corner – my Mac immediately shuts down. Ok – I never liked that screen in the first place but a total Mac shutdown is a bit over the top.

HOWEVER – If I try to create a new project by while already working on a project – no problem. The start screen works just fine. (I open a previous project by double-clicking the project file, then create a new project –in the start screen above — while the previous project is still open. I save. Close the previous project, and I’m good to go.)

From that point Premiere works just fine.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Did you start from scratch by deleting the prefs?

Sorry – yes, did all the usuals. Blew out the prefs. Did a couple of safe boots as I understand the Mac does some housecleaning when that is done. Even de-installed and re-installed Premiere Pro. This actually began AFTER I tried out the new AI noise reduction abilities of Premiere Pro, using the pop-up tutorial that is made available when (I believe) I opened the software. I may have just upgraded Premiere Pro from an earlier version when that happened. I don’t recall. I wonder if there is a way to prevent the start screen from opening. Though not sure I could create a new project without it opening. Thanks for any further insight….
