    Hi Guys,

I normally use a Macbook but with a smaller budget I purchased a Dell Laptop with 8gb ram for work trips to wrangle and provide some quick cuts for client.

It runs Premiere Pro perfectly and fast but exporting files takes forever. My old Mac with same 8gb memory used to Export 2 mins full HD files in about an hour. Now it takes about 8 hours…I’ve adjusted the memory going towards PP also.

Any tips on sorting this…is exporting via usb3 to a external hard-drive going to be quicker than writing the file to the same drive on the laptop??

    Thanks in advance…

What GPU does the Dell have? Do you have the hardware MPE enabled? That sounds like your running in software MPE mode.

    Hi Nick,

A USB 3 drive won’t change your export speed. Processor speed first, then GPU would be the culprits. May sure it’s not a laptop with something like a cheap integrated Intel graphics card. You’ll need Nvidia or AMD, ideally, one supported by Premiere.
