  • Premiere Pro CS6 doesn’t trim ProRes media when consolidate project

Posted by Paul Jay on April 29, 2013 at 12:20 pm

When you consolidate a ProRes project in Premiere it doesn’t trim the media.

It just copies the complete files . Just like it does with MXF, Long gop media.
ProRes is not long gop, but still doesn’t work.

Premiere Project Manager is pretty useless this way.
I hope they fix this in the next update.

I suspect since Premiere Pro is cross platform and it can’t write ProRes on the Windows side, this may represent the limitation at the moment.

Well, it doesn’t work on the Mac side aswell. My system can encode ProRes so that’s not the issue here.

Premiere can Export a quicktime with ProRes, but it can’t media manage it.

It surprises me that you can’t trim it on a Mac with ProRes write capability installed (Motion or FCPX or whatever installed).

However, I know that Adobe worked on ProRes functionality for the next release, and I’ll be curious to see if that capability becomes available.

On Windows, our inherent limitations defined by an embargo on ProRes write and archaic 32 bit QT remain…however, I was running ProRes 4K on the Premiere Pro edit timeline on the floor at NAB in the AJA booth on a Windows system, and in my experience, that represents a notable performance improvement…thus I am hopeful.

I’m very hopeful aswell for the next Premiere.

Current version is great, but there are still issues.
Especially with Audio playback and the playback with Blackmagic or AJA I/O.

I’ve seen Lots of random sync drifting and audio playback issues with our clients that run Premiere CS6.

I hope they will fix this:)
