Premiere Pro CS5.5.2 no video capture from Canon HV20
I have a friend who has Premiere Pro CS 5.5.2 and a Canon HV20. He shot some video on the camera (DV not HD or HDV), he followed all the camera settings for DV output through firewire in the manual, followed the recommended computer capture settings, checked and trouble shot the firewire cable, etc., had the camera plugged into AC power, etc., and he gets no video or audio into Premiere.
The computer sees and controls the camera (REW, FF, PLAY, STOP, etc.).
We searched the net for solutions (dll files in the wrong place, legacy firewire drivers, you name it) and came up with nothing that’s solved the problem.
My friend had Premiere Pro CS4 and all was fine, but when he upgraded — POOF! — gone. This seems very strange. Canon DV cameras are very run of the mill and SHOULD work, right?
It seems like a Windows problem, since Windows Moviemaker has the same problem with the camera — full control, but no audio or video into the computer/software.
Any one heard of this before? Any ideas?
