I converted a spanned EX-1 file to an MXF using the XDCAM Clip Browser software. The video was shot in 1080 24P with a clip length of about 7 minutes total.

The first portion of the clip, recorded on one card, imports into Premiere Pro CS 5.5 just fine. However, the second clip, even though it is about 4 minutes, only shows 2.5 minutes in the source window and the timneline.

I know the entire clip is in the MXF file because 1) of the size, in GBs, of the file, and 2) I opened it in Sony Vegas and the whole thing is there.

As I have not yet learned my lesson to simply copy the BPAV file structure to my hard drive, I have no originals to import directly into PP or re-export into MXFs again.

I found a solution, inelegant as it is, by bringing the MXF into another editing program (in this case Sony Vegas 11) and rendering it as an MXF. My computer did this pretty quickly and the quality in PP looks great.

Would love to know why this happens though . . .
