Premiere Pro CS5 can’t export audio to MPEG2
Trying to export video and it exports the video perfectly. Nice and crisp and sharp. The audio ends up on a seperate track which doesnt work for me. I have spent hours looking and haven’t found an easy solution to get Premiere CS5 to export video AND audio on one file (as MPEG2). Any help would be appreciated 🙂

Try setting the Multiplexing to MPEG2. It’s under the Multiplexer tab in the Export dialog.

Hey Steve, thanks for your help but I have tried that already. Should also mention that Export Video and Export Audio tabs are check marked. Not sure what else to try. I set format as MPEG2 and Preset is HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality. Audio tab on MPEG and Multiplex set to MPEG2. Then, I export clip and always shows up as two files. One video and one audio but need them together. Any other ideas? Thanks so much for your advice.

That’s odd. I just did this. No, I mean, right now.
Chose MPEG2, Preset 1080i 29.97 High quality. On the multiplexer I set it to MPEG 2.I did change the bitrate encode to CBR – just to speed this up.
I did get an XMP file (that’s the metadata) but one MPG file with both audio and video.
Could it be you’re thinking the XMP file is audio?
I’m willing to build a preset and sent it to you to see if it makes a difference..

I did figure it out however…this might help anyone with same issue I had. When I originally exported the file, I did not have Export Audio selected. I did this to test video (as I did not have the voice over from client completed). When taking off the Export Audio option originally, it changed the output to Custom Preset. When exporting with audio, it continued to keep it set as Custom Preset, even though I had never initially saved this preset. From here, I was able to tinker around with it a bit and change the Custom Preset to 1080p 29.7 High Quality file. Changing that drop down fixed problem immediately. Thanks everyone for your help!!
