Premiere Pro CS3 Crashing on HDV Capture
I am running Premiere CS3.2.0 on a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/ 4GB RAM, running OS 10.5.5.
While attempting to capture HDV footage from my Sony HVR-Z1U, Premiere freezes…necessitating a hard shut-down and restart. The freeze happens anywhere from 5 seconds into capture to 1:30 into capture.
Camera connected via Firewire (of course). Capture settings NTSC, Sony, Standard, Drop-Frame.
Project settings: general HDV 1080i (60i).
I have tried capturing to internal hard drive, eSATA external striped drive w/600GB free space, Firewire 800 external drive w/ 1.2 TB free space, USB2 external drive w/ 1.8TB free space…all with the same result.
This problem is persistent…the only variable is the length of time before the crash.
I had this problem in November as well and eventually gave up. After that, I did, however, do a clean install of OSX and all software to no avail. I only updated OSX to 10.5.5 thinking that 10.5.6 had perhaps been the problem…t’wernt that easy.
I have tried deleting preferences files and preset files, to no avail.
I captured successfully with this combination of equipment before…back in June. Anyone know of any software updates that may have introduced this glitch since then?
Thank you, anyone, for any help you can offer.
C.
