Just “upgraded” to CS4 from CS3 last week. PLEASE tell me that there is a work around for this exporting process. I am working on half-hour programs that typically have a lot of media associated with them. Is it true that EVERY time I want to export something from the project the Media Encoder has to load the entire project??? Why can’t I just export directly out of my project like I used to be able to do? This is insane.

Short answer, yep… Loading for us takes about 5 seconds, but it really depends on the machine.

The good news is that you can export all your projects and render then all at once while you party at night…

…if media encoder doesnt crash overnight …

    welcome to CS4 Chris!

Unfortunately the use of AME is necessary to export from PPRO CS4,
only advice i can give for projects such as the one you’ve described would be to keep your project clean, and remove any unused media or unnecessary timelines before you export; As AME loads the whole project to export the one timeline, if you have a complex premiere project then AME can take a LONG time and can sometimes crash.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, just keep those projects tidy!
