Premiere Pro CC audio channels confusion
Hi, I am a complete novice so please be gentle with me! I am putting together some talking head films and been supplied video in quicktime and also external mic audio.
I was going to use the external mic audio, HOWEVER on one of the interviews they forgot to run the external mic for several important takes so for consistency across the films I need to use the video audio.
I have already edited the best takes into various edits for each person so unfortunately I cannot go back and change my default settings and re-drop every clip into the sequences.
So next I wanted to tackle the audio as there are some simple volume amends to make but also some background noise/ some traffic noise and also interviewer crashing into the interviewee’s responses, which I was going to edit in Audition.
I am from a visual background so audio is rather alien to me. The sound is mono but when I dropped the clips into my sequence it created 4 tracks (2 seem blank), the other 2 tracks seem identical and as far as I can tell mono (nothing allocated to L or R). The sound sounds richer with both tracks playing but do I only need 1 of these tracks and do the editing on that?
Any help appreciated, and apologies on my ignorance.
I was going to add some screengrab but url not found.
My ‘Modify clip’ looks like this:
