Premiere Pro 5.5 project crashes on launch due to GoPro Cineform Studio
Ok so I’m working on a feature length documentary in Premiere Pro CS 5.5. I am working with .mts and cannon dslr footage. I have several mulicam sequences. This project is in it’s finalization stage (sound, score, and color are coming back to me.) I opened the project like a week ago to export an updated omf for the sound mixer to do their final pass. It worked fine then. Today when I tried to open it everything loads fine, but as soon as I see the timeline and preview windows it crashes and I get the “Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 quit unexpectedly” dialogue. I spent all afternoon and most of the evening banging my head off my desk trying to figure out what the problem was. Tried importing the entire project as well as individual sequences in a new project. The entire project made it crash and the individual sequences would just sit there saying “Loading Sequences” and never go anywhere, but not freeze. I even tried uninstalling ALL of Master Collection and my plug-ins and re-installing. That didn’t even work.
Suddenly I realized last week I had installed GoPro Cineform Studio for a GoPro heavy project I had started. I uninstalled it and low and behold the project opens fine now. I post this in the hopes that I can save anyone else out there going through the same problems a lot of time and worry. I don’t know any details about the conflict or even if it was more widespread than myself, but if you find yourself in the same spot uninstall the GoPro application and plugins and see if it solves your problem.
