Premiere Pro 5.1 Problem
I still can’t get Premiere Pro to do things in 5.1 I think it probably has something to do with Vista and Premiere Pro CS4. If you look at the photo, you can see that it is only recognizing L/R.
I’m using SoundBlaster X-Fi with latest drivers (it was the $99 one) It is Asio Compatible. It was the reason I upgraded. The 5.1 card already on my machine wasn’t, and I though that was the problem.

Output in preview and exported only does L/R, no center/surround/ or LFE. Yes, works great on DVD playback and the Windows test. Any help would be greatly apprecieted. Thanks!!!

Make sure you select the card under the hardware tab first.

Yes. Certainly did. There us no option for more than two channels. What sound card do others use sucessfully with 5.1?

Are you sure that:
1. The card is Surround Sound Capable.
2. The Speakers connected are a Surround Sound Set using all the surround sound connection in/out of the card.
3. You’ve run the audio driver wizard and told it to be a surround sound system.From looking at the posted image it looks like the system is only picking up stereo speakers, like that is the mode the audio driver is seeing them as.

The card is working exactly how it should in every program except Premiere. It plays 5.1 on DVDs (very clearly, not “fake” 5.1) and when you go to test, it plays each channel perfectly, and distinctly. So it’s not a driver issue for playback. I figure it’s come encoding issue with premiere, or the card isn’t compatible.

To fix this, open up the “Creative Volume Panel”
Click the “Mode” button and change it to Audio Creation Mode.Hope this helps.
