I’m working at an office that uses Premiere CS5 as well as FCP and I’m a total newb at Premiere so excuse the simplicity of this question.

I’m exporting from CS5 and have followed these steps: File > Export > Media

I then get a grey dialogue box which allows me to manipulate codec, size and so on, but the one thing I can’t find how to manipulate is where the file get’s sent to.

I’ve tried and tried and can’t find any icons or menu items that help me to know where in Codec’s name the file is.

    Many thanks
    Roli

Click on the file name hyperlink.

Thanks for your answer Paul, but that hasn’t worked, I actually tried that before but it says it’s going into a particular folder (checked and double checked) but after the export’s finished the file isn’t there. Any ideas?

    Many thanks

While it’s exporting, do you see a temp file in the folder you selected?

If you’re not seeing the temp file generated during export then the file must be going to a different folder.

Can you search by date for the latest file created and see if it’s your export?

No, it’s weird I’ve tried searching and found nothing; (I must say this is putting me off Premiere, though we’re onto CS7 now aren’t we?)

My workaround has been to export the FCP XML from Premiere, then import into my FCP project, then log and transfer the footage (as it won’t reconnect via the BPAV folder) then reconnect the footage (phew!), then export my timeline (wipe’s brow).
