    Hi there,

I’ve learned to create personal extensions for Premiere to help in my workflow, and have decided to touch them up and try and sell them either on my own site or the Adobe exchange. I was curious what you all think of this idea.

A Find and Replace panel for renaming files, that can be specified by type (seq, clip, bin, etc.) and can be applied globally, by bin + sub-bins, or by selection. The features are Replace, Add to Front/Back, Remove from Front/Back, and Remove.

Curious what you all think. Would you find this helpful in your day to day? I’m kind of thinking it would be great for Assistant Editors. And what would you be willing to pay for a tool like this?

Any opinions would be much appreciated.

    Eli

i love the idea of being able to purchase customized extensions to help with workflow. However, I can’t see a need for a replace function at all. One of the cardinal rules of editing is to never change file names.

    Thanks for the thoughts Greg.

Just for clarification, this tool would not change root file information, just item display names in Premiere for project organization. Does this change you thoughts at all, or is that still not a good idea? I know I change names in my PPro project quite a bit, but I will admit I am slightly removed from a traditional professional editors workflow.

There may be a need for this feature by some editors out there but my work flow is such that clip names are irrelevant to me and so I have no need for it.
