  • Premiere Export 1440×1080 Footage to DVD

I am looking for solutions for the highest quality export settings for HD footage for a DVD burn.

I am operating in Adobe CS5 on mac.

The sequence is Premiere’s AVCHD 1080i Anamorphic preset.
    It has the following settings:

    General
    1440×10800 (1.3333)
    29.97 fps

    Video
    1440×1080 16:9
    PAR: HD Anaorphic 1080 (1.333)
    Fields: (Upper Field First)
Display Format: 30fps Drop Frame Timecode

    Audio
    48000 Hz

    Video Previews
    I-Frame Only MPEG
    MPEG I-Frame
    1440×1080

The sequence contains footage shot with a Panasonic AG-HMC40 AVCCAM set on 1080 60i. It was imported through Final Cut AIC conversion to Quicktime.

The basic properties of these clips are as follows:

    1920×1080
    PAR 1.0
    29.97 fps

The sequence also contains some Compositions edited in After Effects
    with settings as follows:

    1440×1080
    29.97 fps
    PAR 1.3333

With the settings listed above, the sequence looks and plays wonderfully in Premiere Pro CS5.

What are the specific export settings I need to get the highest quality video for DVD?

I will be burning this sequence with either DVD Studio Pro or Encore CS5 (I am not familiar with either, but will learn.)

While the export settings for DVD are my main concern, I also would like suggestions for export settings for YoutubeHD Widescreen. The Premiere Pro’s h.264 preset for HD Youtube Widescreen results in a shaky video export. (Yes, the video shakes as if I added AE’s wiggle effect to the entire video.)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

CS5 exports to a good quality mpeg2 for dvd. Make sure Max Render Quality is on.
Premiere’s preset for HD YouTube widescreen works well.
You could consider wmvHD720p looks wonderfull.
