  Premiere EDL or AAF of P2 for avid editing

  I’m not an Avid editor, so please bear with me technically.

  I’m looking for a good, simple logging solution for P2 than an Avid can import just as easily as an ALE or xdcam footage logged with sony’s PDZ-1 software. I can’t find a good step by step how-to anywhere, yet.

  Premiere CS3 works natively with P2 and can export an AAF and/or an EDL that our Avid Adrenaline can read…the Premiere AAF comes right in, the EDL works after running through some avid program. It’s also very easy to lay out a rough sequence in Premiere, so this makes it the perfect start to P2 logging for avid in my tiny mind.

  Problem is, we can’t figure out how to link the P2 footage to the imported AAF or EDL. ..and if you can’t link the P2 footage in Avid, why bother giving Premiere the ability to create these potentially beautiful files?

  Anyone have any suggestions, ideas? Am I barking up the wrong tree?
