Premiere CS6, MB Looks, and External Video
I’m trying to make the switch over to using Premiere, but I can’t get the external video working for Magic Bullet Looks. When I click the “edit” button in Premiere, MB looks opens correctly, but it can’t use my external monitor (powered by a Kona) because Premiere is still using it.
I had the same problem with Final Cut Pro, but Final Cut had a menu option to disable external video. It was a pain to do, but it worked. Is there some way to do this in Premiere?

I saw this on the Adobe forums. Appears to be a Red Giant problem. Here’s the link to the thread. Hopefully this will help. In Premiere Pro CC you’ll be able to use a keyboard shortcut to disable transmit.

“Yep that work around confirms exactly what I suspected. Red Giant is running their plugin service as an separate host service. Adobe will not release the Blackmagic card as long as it’s selected and initialized. This is a Red Giant issue with how they setup their plugin with Adobe. That is why you have to switch the preview in AE to Computer monitor when you want to use the Red Giant so AE will release the device.
To essentially do the same thing in Premiere, you have to close the Blackmagic sequence from the timeline and change the player to the Adobe Player. So create a non-Blackmagic sequence as a Duplicate sequence in your project. Leave it on the timeline. Copy and paste the Blackmagic Sequence over to that when you want to launch the Red Giant plugin. Close the Blackmagic Sequence from the time line. Then drop the plugin into the Duplicate sequence and launch the Red Giant Interface. See if it will then utilize the Blackmagic card in the Red Giant Host panel”
