    Hey guys

I’m experiencing excessive lag while playing back 720p unconpressed footage in Premiere after upgrading from CS3 to CS5 and from WinXP 64Bit to Win7 64Bit.

I was hoping you could help med find the problem. Here’s my setup:

    Dell Precision T7500
    Dual Quad Xeon E5520 @ 2.27Ghz
    24 GB DDR3 1033Mhz RAM
    250Gb ST3250318AS
2TB LaCie 2big Quadra eSata Raid-drive (Where my HD-footage is stored)
    Nvidia Quadro FX1800 768Mb Driver Version 259.57
    Wacom Intuos 3 (latest drivers)
    Windows 7 Professional 64Bit

All latest updates have been aplied to the CS5 package.

The weird thing is, the machine had no problem playing the content when WinXP was installed.

If you need any more info please ask 🙂 I really really want this problem fixed 🙂

For uncompressed HD footage, you are going to need a serious RAID system, and I’m going to say no less than 4 drives in RAID 0.

These drives also tends to slow down quite a bit when they over 3/4 full. How is the RAID processing handled?

If you start working with chroma key, or need to separate audio and video on uncompressed files, the speed required will easily double as well, something to keep in mind.

You say you have updated, but are you sure that you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update ( https://bit.ly/djiyh4 )? That update fixes a lot of problems.

Hi Guys, thanks for the quick replies.

The Lacie 2Big Quadra is set to operate in RAID 0, and the drive is only 1/4 full.

I’ve also installed the Premiere Pro 5.0.2 update and no change.

And as I said the drive worked perfectly when we were operating with WinXP.

Also I’ve noticed that the interface in AE and PS are also lagging. A lot in fact. Scrubbing in After Effects is practically impossible and dragging a window i Photoshop is a chobby affair.

In that case, it sounds more like a video driver issue, do you have the latest from the card manufacturer?

I have the latest drivers directly from nVidia. I have a nVidia Quadro FX 1800 786Mb card. Anyone else had any problems with this card and CS5. I’m wondering if it would help to switch to one of the gamercards instead, ie GeForce 480gtx.
