Premiere CS5 Audio cuts out
Hey guys, need help with my audio cutting out during CS5 playback.
I’m editing some 1080 24p DSLR footage. Using about 40 DSLR video clips, separately recorded .wav audio files and the final edit is about 7 1/2 minutes long. It is just straight editing; no fancy compositing, multiple layers or anything like that.
Video plays back like a dream, but audio starts to cut in and out after about 1 1/2 minutes into playback. It renders the audio out fine when exported, but playback in timeline is atrocious.
My gut tells me its a hardware performace issue. I’m using a quad-core phenom ii, 4gb of DDR2 ram, and I have a 1tb WD black drive for my project files, and a separate 80gb OS/programs drive. Any ideas on whats causing my issue?

I have the same problem with CS5.5. The sound is imported just fine, but the software wants to cut me out of audio after just a few seconds of playback at any point that I start at in the clip. This only happens with footage captured from my Sony HD Handycam. Footage from my Sony HDV camera plays just fine. What’s the deal?

I have this problem as well. It definitely “feels” like a hardware issue, but I don’t have any proof of this. I am confused, however, because I am on a system that should be able to handle it.
I’m pulling from a 7200rpm RAID 0 drive, and I’ve got a 3.2ghz processor, nVidia Quadro 3800 video card, 12gb ram. So… this should be able to handle it.
I notice that this happens more often when there are multiple tracks going on at the same time, but that’s not the only time.
