I have cs3 installed, i have the main concept hdv plugin for avchd, the codec of the damned, anyways, can anyone tell me, why Ppro cs4 simply doesn’t render in the timeline. cs3 renders in the timeline, but the ridiculous method of getting a nested sequence in cs3 made me go to cs4 to see if it would play better, what a mistake that was. no the project won’t load back into cs3, yes i could get rid of the one element that is causing it to corrupt and see if it will load, but i just would like the Experts here at the cow to tell me with a straight face, why on earth doe premiere cs4 not render in the timeline when you press enter. what ridiculous reason is it, when cs3 will, but gets bogged down with nested sequences. i mean, i wish i could just import avchd into final cut, you can’t, i heard from a sony cam you can, but sure as F can’t with my panasonic. to recap and conclude,

Premiere Cs4, you alt square brackets what you want your work area to be, you press enter, absolutely no rendering will take place, and for giggles the encoder updated, is not much better, i’ve had good luck with the encoder and cs4 on my macbook, but my pc (XP SP3 quadcore 9750 3.25 gigs of ram, blah blah, what do i need a hundred spare gigs? i only have 40. i hate this.

You can assign any key you like for rendering in the keyboard customization settings.

Because faster machines often don’t need to render anymore in order to play realtime, CS4 now has 2 methods for rendering. Render effects only, or render entire timeline.

Why they didn’t assign one of them to “Enter” I’m not sure.

    Just go to Edit>keyboard customization.

In the application menu, go to Sequence > Render entire work area, click the corresponding shortcut cell, and hit Enter.

i’ve gone into sequence and selected render work area, nothing. it’s still enter to do this. i’ll just continue to edit in cs3 on my pc and cs4 on my mac, bottom line, avchd support has got to be a priority for cs5

and and thanks for your response, vince.
